First single-family office fund notified under Malta's lighter-touch regime

Malta has registered its first Notified Professional Investor Fund under the Single Family Office Exempt Manager Framework, signalling growing interest in private wealth structuring.
Malta has registered its first Notified Professional Investor Fund under the Single Family Office Exempt Manager Framework.
The framework gives single family offices a dedicated regulatory path. Instead of adopting structures designed for institutional or retail fund managers, exempt managers can now oversee NPIFs with proportionate oversight and lower compliance costs.
The first such fund has now been notified. CC Fund Services handled administration, due diligence and corporate services for the structure. The process required close coordination between legal advisers, the family office and service providers.
Market interest is growing. Firms active in the space report increasing demand from family offices seeking EU market access combined with a more proportionate governance model.
For Malta, the development is a concrete validation of its regulatory offering. The framework balances cost-efficiency for private wealth with maintained governance and transparency standards.
This first NPIF is expected to serve as a reference point for other single family offices evaluating the jurisdiction. As family office requirements continue to evolve, Malta's regulatory toolkit is likely to expand in parallel.
The milestone could drive further family office activity, boosting demand for local legal, administrative and corporate service providers. It also differentiates Malta from other EU centres with heavier institutional requirements.
