VisitMalta MICE arm wins international tech-driven marketing award

VisitMalta Incentives & Meetings has been named Destination Marketing Leader at the Cvent Excellence Awards, beating larger convention bureaus for the technology-focused prize.
VisitMalta Incentives & Meetings has been named Destination Marketing Leader at the Cvent Excellence Awards, beating out hundreds of nominations including from larger and more established convention bureaus.
The award recognises the unit's use of Cvent technology to raise destination awareness, connect event planners with hotels and venues, and attract new conference business to Malta and Gozo.
Alaine Ciantar, Director of VisitMalta Incentives & Meetings, called the recognition a proud and humbling moment for both the department and the destination. She credited the team's commitment to innovation in marketing and a focus on measurable success.
The Cvent Excellence Awards programme evaluates how organisations use technology to improve collaboration, programme efficiency, and overall results. Winners are selected from hundreds of submissions across the events, hospitality, and marketing sectors.
Cvent is a major meetings and hospitality technology provider with 5,000 employees and 24,000 customers worldwide as of December 2024. Its chief customer officer, Andreas Heckmann, said this year's winners embraced the combination of technology, strategy, and creativity.
For Malta's MICE sector, the award signals that the island's convention bureau is competing effectively against much larger destinations. The win validates a technology-driven approach to marketing that could help sustain growth in the high-value conference and incentive travel segment.
VisitMalta Incentives & Meetings operates as part of the Malta Tourism Authority, promoting the Maltese Islands for meetings, incentives, conferences, and events without commercial interests.
