TradeMalta has closed its 2026 Internationalisation Strategy Masterclass, handing out certificates to business representatives who completed the ten-week export-focused programme.

The initiative, run in partnership with Malta University Services and backed by HSBC Bank Malta, aims to give local companies the practical tools and strategic knowledge needed to pursue growth outside Malta's small domestic market.

"International growth has become an increasingly important strategic objective for businesses seeking long-term sustainability and competitiveness."

TradeMalta CEO Tania Brown addressed attendees at the certificate ceremony, stressing that international growth is no longer optional for companies that want to stay competitive.

"International growth has become an increasingly important strategic objective for businesses seeking long-term sustainability and competitiveness," Brown said. "Through the Internationalisation Strategy Masterclass, TradeMalta continues to empower businesses in building the knowledge, skills and strategic mindset needed to compete successfully in global markets."

The evening featured a panel discussion moderated by Joe Schembri, the long-time coordinator of the Masterclass. Panelists included Roland Scerri from Loqus, Maxine Micallef from MCAST, Deon Vosloo from Foster Clarks, and Bernard Grima from HSBC Bank Malta.

They shared first-hand accounts of expanding into international markets, with the conversation centering on resilience, strategic planning, and the value of strong partnerships.

For Maltese businesses, the programme addresses a recurring challenge: how to scale beyond an island economy with limited domestic demand. TradeMalta's structured approach, combining academic input from the University of Malta with banking sector support, gives participants a framework for export strategy rather than ad-hoc expansion.

The event closed with a networking reception also supported by HSBC Bank Malta, giving participants and stakeholders a chance to build professional connections as they begin or continue their internationalisation efforts.
