Daniel Galea, managing director of easyJet Engineering Malta, has been appointed chairperson of TradeMalta, the agency tasked with promoting Malta's international trade.

Galea also sits on the council of The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry. His appointment was announced on 28 November 2025.

He succeeds David Matrenza, whom TradeMalta thanked for his leadership and strategic contribution to the organisation.

TradeMalta said Galea brings extensive experience and a strong vision to support the organisation's continued growth and engagement with the international business community.

The agency remains focused on empowering local businesses to expand internationally. The leadership change signals continuity in that mission but with a fresh perspective from the aviation sector.

easyJet Engineering Malta is a major employer and technical operation. Galea's background in aviation maintenance and management could influence TradeMalta's sectoral focus going forward.

The appointment comes as Malta seeks to strengthen its export base and attract foreign direct investment. TradeMalta plays a central role in trade missions, business matching, and international promotion.

No further details on Galea's specific priorities were provided in the announcement.
