Ta' Qali gears up for SummerDaze: Capaldi and Harris to draw thousands

SummerDaze Malta returns for its seventh edition next week, with final preparations underway at the Ta' Qali Concert Area. The two-night festival, scheduled for 11 and 15 August, will feature global headliners Lewis Capaldi and Calvin Harris, supported by local artists.

The Malta Tourism Authority expects the event to draw thousands of visitors, reinforcing Malta's position as a destination for large-scale international productions. MTA Chairman Dr Charles Mangion described the festival as an investment in positioning Malta as a tourism destination, increasing overseas visibility and attracting visitors seeking memorable experiences.

'Events of this calibre contribute towards our vision of developing a sustainable tourism sector while generating opportunities for the Maltese economy and local businesses,' Mangion said in a statement. He added that the festival's continued success reflects close cooperation between the Government, the MTA, organisers, and other entities.

Jason Micallef, Head of Unit of the Malta National Park in Ta' Qali, noted that the Concert Area's extensive facilities make it possible to host major international events simultaneously across various zones. 'A clear example is the Concert Area, which offers extensive, unique facilities in our country, alongside all the surrounding green spaces,' Micallef said.

For local businesses, the event represents a significant boost. Hotels, restaurants, and transport operators in the vicinity of Ta' Qali are expected to see increased demand during the festival period. The organisers said this year's edition raises the standard with a world-class line-up, further cementing Malta's reputation for high-profile international productions.

SummerDaze Malta has become a fixture on the island's cultural calendar since its launch. The 2026 edition aims to build on that momentum, combining international star power with local talent to attract both visiting and resident audiences.
