Malta takes AI pitch to GITEX Global 2024 as Dubai tech fair draws 6,500 exhibitors

Malta's push into the global AI economy took a Dubai detour last month. Tech.mt, in collaboration with the Malta Digital Innovation Authority and Finance Malta, participated in GITEX Global 2024, one of the world's largest technology showcases.

The event ran from October 16 to 20 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This year's theme, 'Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy', set the tone for the discussions.

GITEX Global covered key verticals including artificial intelligence, 5G technology, cloud computing, digital cities, cybersecurity, sustainability and fintech. The sheer scale of the event is hard to ignore: over 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups and 1,200 investors from more than 180 countries.

For Malta's delegation, the opportunity was clear. With a concentrated group of global tech leaders and capital providers in one venue, the inMalta presence aimed to position the islands as a serious player in the AI-driven business landscape.

The participation underscores a coordinated effort by local bodies to raise Malta's profile as a destination for tech investment and innovation. The involvement of both MDIA and Finance Malta signals that the pitch is not just about technology, but about the broader business ecosystem.
