Esports betting calendar signals year-round opportunity for Maltese operators

New calendar from iGB and DATA.BET provides projected betting volumes for major esports tournaments, helping operators plan offerings.
iGB has partnered with sports betting supplier DATA.BET to release a global esports event calendar designed to help operators identify betting opportunities across the year ahead. The calendar covers major titles including League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, with metrics that allow operators to assess which tournaments are likely to attract the most action.
The calendar includes four key data points for each event: hours watched across major livestreaming platforms, peak concurrent viewers, prize pool size, and a proprietary estimate of total betting value. The projected betting value is calculated using DATA.BET's methodology, giving operators a volume benchmark per tournament.
For Malta's iGaming sector, which hosts a dense cluster of licensed operators and suppliers, the tool arrives at a time when esports betting is growing faster than traditional sports. The data enables operators to decide which events to cover, how to price markets, and where to allocate marketing spend.
According to iGB, the global esports event calendar is 'busier than ever', with year-round competition across multiple titles. That continuity presents a steady flow of betting opportunities, distinct from the seasonal peaks of traditional sports calendars.
The calendar emphasises that the metrics are meant to guide operator strategy rather than guarantee outcomes. The projected betting value, in particular, is an estimate and should be treated as a planning tool, not a forecast.
For Maltese operators, the ability to back decisions with data could make the difference in a crowded market. As esports audiences grow and betting habits mature, having a clear roadmap of what to offer and when is becoming a competitive necessity.
