Danish betting spend surges 20% YoY in June 2026, signalling strong Nordic demand

Danish betting spend reached DKK 1.2 billion in June 2026, up 20% year-on-year. The data offers positive market signals for Maltese iGaming operators.
The Danish Gambling Authority has reported a sharp increase in betting spend for June 2026, with total spend reaching DKK 1.2 billion.
That represents a 15% rise from the previous month and a 20% jump year-on-year, according to data released by Spillemyndigheden.
Sports betting drove the bulk of activity, accounting for 60% of total spend. Casino gaming also rose, with spend up 10% month-on-month.
"This growth reflects the continued strength of the Danish betting market," said Anders Dorph, Director of the Danish Gambling Authority. "We are seeing increased activity across both online and retail channels."
Dorph added that the increase is particularly notable in sports betting. The regulator said the figures remain within expected parameters and do not indicate a rise in problem gambling.
The licensed market share held steady at over 90%, suggesting that the regulated channel continues to dominate.
For Maltese iGaming operators, the Danish data offers a positive read-across. Denmark is one of Europe's most mature regulated markets, and sustained double-digit growth signals healthy consumer demand and regulatory stability.
Many Malta-based companies hold Danish licences or target Nordic expansion. The June figures reinforce the case for continued investment in the region.
The Danish Gambling Authority's next data release is expected in the coming months, which will show whether the growth trend holds through the summer.
