Atlas Ocean Voyages details Europe 2028: Baltic growth, Egypt and Turkey return
Luxury cruise line Atlas Ocean Voyages details its Europe 2028 season with 12 new ports, overnight stays and immersive expeditions.
Atlas Ocean Voyages has unveiled its Europe 2028 season, a six-month program spanning the Mediterranean and Northern Europe that expands its Baltic presence and marks the cruise line's return to Egypt and Turkey.
The season runs from April through September 2028 and includes 37 Epicurean and Cultural Expeditions designed to immerse guests in local experiences, as reported by Cruise Industry News.
The itineraries feature cruising through the Venetian Lagoon, the Corinth Canal, Norway's fjords, the Guadalquivir River to Seville and the Garonne River into Bordeaux. The program includes 26 overnight stays and visits to 13 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
James A. Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages, said the collection reflects what luxury travellers want: deeper cultural connections and access to destinations larger ships cannot reach. "Every arrival feels personal and every destination tells a richer story," he said, adding that the itineraries are intentionally built around boutique ports and lesser-known coastal communities.
The cruise line is adding 12 new ports of call across France, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Estonia and Norway. Among them are Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Boulogne-sur-Mer in France, Lavrion and Naxos in Greece, and Svolvær in Norway's Lofoten islands.
Highlight voyages include the Grand Prix & Italian Icons sailing from Nice timed with the Monaco Grand Prix, a Medieval Baltic Shores journey from Copenhagen to Stockholm, and the Greek & Egyptian Antiquities roundtrip from Athens featuring a call in Alexandria. The Impressionist Tableaux voyage from Bordeaux to London commemorates the D-Day anniversary with visits to Normandy.
Europe 2028 voyages are now open for booking. Guests can take advantage of the Explorer's Choice offer with Bonus Savings of up to 10% and a choice of complimentary amenities, including up to a $1,000 Air Credit or a one-night pre-expedition hotel stay.
For Malta's cruise tourism sector, the strategic shift toward smaller luxury vessels and lesser-known ports is a signal worth watching. While Atlas does not list Malta among its 2028 calls, the line's emphasis on "boutique ports and lesser-discovered coastal communities" aligns with the kind of exclusive experiences that Maltese harbours can offer. The return to Egypt and Turkey also points to a rebalancing of Eastern Mediterranean itineraries that could influence port calls in the region.
The Europe 2028 season follows Atlas's previously announced 2028 Arctic season with 13 expeditions ranging from seven to 17 nights. The cruise line continues to position itself in the expedition and cultural travel niche.
The announcement underscores a broader industry trend of luxury lines investing in multi-year program planning. For Malta, maintaining competitiveness means ensuring port infrastructure and cultural packages meet the expectations of this high-spending segment.
